RALLY FOR DEMOCRACY AT THE CAPITOL
Thursday, January 30th at 12pm – All Are Welcome

On January 24, 2025, the Washington State House of Representatives, led by the Democratic majority, voted to eliminate a 132-year-old rule that had guaranteed free and open debate on the House floor since 1893. This rule change effectively limits the ability of Republican members to participate fully in floor discussions and argue against bad bills making WA more unaffordable and unsafe.

The decision has been a point of major contention, with Republicans expressing extreme concerns over the suppression of minority party voices in legislative proceedings.

We are gathering people to show up this coming Thursday at noon in black with our mouths taped shut and our hands tied to march around the flag poles for an hour. We must stand for free speech and debate in government. Democracy depends on it.
